Joe Culley, drummer and composer
Culley's main kit is his Sonors, but on occasion he will still play his Gretsch set. You can hear Joe on both Osmosis albums. His composition Our Friend, the Ant is on the CD Music, while Perspectives contains his work Transformation.
Joe's biggest influences would have to be Jack DeJohnette and David Garibaldi. Affected not only by their playing, Culley studies techniques and approaches of these great drummers. Rooted originally in rock, Joe's first influence was Keith Moon.
Culley has performed extensively, and his credits include Robert Lockwood, Jr., Wallace Coleman, the Beat Detectives, and the Bluestones, among others. Currently, Joe is also the leader of the Open Space drummers and a teacher of the visual arts, as well as music.
